TRAILING THE PATH OF FRENCH INVASION

On a fine sunny Wednesday when I landed in Puducherry, The French Riviera of East, I, as a first-time visitor, did not have the slightest idea from where to start my mission.  And I ended up in Mission Street, on the premises of Notre Dame de’ to begin my exploration of Puducherry’s French connection. The cathedral has a long history dating back to 1692. This is not the original structure of the cathedral. The church was demolished thrice following the Dutch and British invasions. Built in the Portuguese and French styles, the church has stained glass windows and large doors which showcase the French style of architecture.
